Who might be able to join this trial:

For people being checked for tuberculosis (TB):

• Adults and young people aged 12 or older who are not currently admitted to a hospital, and who have had a cough lasting 2 weeks or more
• People aged 12 or older who are not hospitalised and who have HIV, report having been in close contact with someone who had TB, or have a history of working in mining — and who also show signs of possible TB based on World Health Organization (WHO) screening tools (such as a blood test result or an abnormal chest X-ray, depending on the risk factor)

For healthcare workers being asked about the usability of TB tests:

• Health workers aged 18 or older who are involved in routine TB testing at a participating clinic, such as collecting samples or performing TB tests

Who may not be able to join:

For people being checked for TB:

• People who have completed treatment for either latent (inactive) or active TB within the past 12 months
• People who have taken any antibiotic or medication that works against TB-related bacteria — including a type called fluoroquinolones — for any reason, within 2 weeks before entering the study
• People who live more than 20 kilometres from the study site, or who are not willing to return for follow-up visits
• People who are not willing to give their informed consent to participate

For healthcare workers:

• Staff who are not willing to give their informed consent to participate
