Who might be able to join this trial:

Cohort A ("Survivors" group):

  • People who have had head and neck, skull base, or brain tumours and have been monitored for at least 5 years with no signs of the disease getting worse
  • People who are able to give their own consent to participate

Cohort B (Treatment group):

  • People who have been diagnosed with a head and neck tumour, confirmed through tissue testing and/or medical imaging
  • People whose doctors have recommended a type of radiation therapy called hadrontherapy with the aim of curing the disease
  • People who are 18 years of age or older
  • People who are able to give their own consent to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have previously had radiation treatment to the same area that would be treated again
  • People who have a second, separate tumour (in addition to the one being studied)
  • People who have a known psychiatric or neurological condition that causes significant disability (such as manic disorder or schizophrenia) and that may affect their ability to complete questionnaires or impact their quality of life
  • People in Cohort B who have widespread cancer that has spread to many parts of the body (metastasis)
