Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who received a kidney, liver, heart, or lung transplant at least two years ago
- People who have previously been diagnosed with a type of skin cancer called keratinocyte carcinoma, or a very early form of squamous cell skin cancer, confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy)
- People who are currently taking anti-rejection medication from a group called calcineurin inhibitors, specifically cyclosporine or tacrolimus
- People who are able to attend follow-up appointments as required by the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have taken nicotinamide or niacin supplements at a dose of 250 mg or more per day in the past 12 weeks
- People who currently have an untreated skin cancer at the time of joining (enrolment may be possible after the skin cancer has been treated)
- People who have had a transplant rejection episode confirmed by biopsy in the past 12 weeks
- People with active liver disease, based on certain blood test results showing significantly elevated liver markers (confirm with trial site)
- People with severely reduced kidney function, based on a specific kidney measurement falling below a certain threshold (confirm with trial site)
- People who have had a serious internal cancer, invasive melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, or skin cancer that has spread to other parts of the body within the past five years
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who need to take the medications carbamazepine or primidone on an ongoing basis
- People who have a known allergy to nicotinamide or any ingredient in the trial capsules
