Who might be able to join this trial:
- People with relapsing-remitting or progressive forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) who are between 22 and 75 years old
- People who are able to walk for at least 15 minutes throughout the day, five days a week, with or without a walking aid
- People who have adequate thinking and communication abilities, as assessed by a phone-based cognitive screening test used to rule out dementia
- People who are able to wear the Neural Sleeve device for up to 8 hours per day
- People whose walking speed falls within a specific range, measured by a timed 25-foot walk test (between 8 and 45 seconds to complete)
- People whose MS medications and symptoms have been stable for at least the past 60 days, with no recent changes or flare-ups
- People whose MS-related disability falls within a specific range, as measured by recognised MS disability scoring tools (confirm with trial site for exact score requirements)
Who may not be able to join:
- People with nerve damage or injury in the lower body (such as peripheral neuropathy) that could affect how muscles respond to electrical stimulation
- People who have no feeling in the more affected leg
- People whose muscles do not respond adequately to electrical stimulation, or who cannot tolerate the stimulation
- People who are unable to walk with the Neural Sleeve worn in place of their current leg brace or ankle/foot support, if they use one
- People who fall more than once a week
- People who have used a functional electrical stimulation (FES) device in the past year
- People who have a demand-type heart pacemaker or defibrillator
- People who have a cancerous tumour in the more affected leg
- People who have a blood clot (thrombosis) in the more affected leg
- People who have a fracture or joint dislocation in the more affected leg that could be made worse by muscle movement caused by stimulation
