Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are currently eating a diet that contains gluten, have a blood test showing raised levels of a celiac disease antibody (called TGt-IgA) above the normal range, and have had an intestinal biopsy confirming celiac disease.
• People whose intestinal biopsy results show a specific pattern of immune cells — higher than normal levels of a type called TCRγδ+ cells (above 10%) along with lower than normal levels of another type called NK-like intraepithelial lymphocytes (confirm with trial site).
• Children who meet specific European guidelines for diagnosing celiac disease, meaning their TGt-IgA antibody levels are more than 10 times the upper limit of normal, even without having had an intestinal biopsy.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have already been formally diagnosed with celiac disease before joining the study.
• People who have refused to have a biopsy of their small intestine (duodenal biopsy).
• People who have a condition that weakens their immune system, whether they were born with it or developed it later.
• People who have or have had cancer.
• People whose blood samples cannot be sent to the central reference laboratory, whose biopsy samples are too poor in quality to be analysed, or who have not signed the required consent form.
