Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic thyroid cancer (specific types include papillary, follicular, poorly differentiated, or particularly differentiated thyroid cancer), confirmed by a tissue or cell sample test
- Your cancer is considered locally advanced, meaning it has grown into or is pressing on nearby structures (such as nerves, the food pipe, windpipe, voice box, or major blood vessels), is at an advanced surgical stage, or would be very difficult to fully remove with surgery
- You are between 14 and 75 years old
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a scan
- You are generally able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site)
- You are expected to live for at least 12 weeks
- Your blood, liver, and kidney test results meet certain minimum health levels (confirm with trial site for exact values)
- If you are able to have children, you must agree to use an approved form of contraception during the study and for 180 days after treatment ends, and must have a negative pregnancy test before starting
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously been treated with a type of targeted drug that works by blocking blood vessel growth (anti-angiogenic therapy)
- You have received any other cancer treatment (such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy) within the 4 weeks before joining, unless it was thyroid hormone suppression therapy
- You have a known allergy to the study drug
- You have a history of serious heart or stroke-related conditions
- Scans show your tumor has grown into major blood vessels, or the medical team thinks this is likely to happen during the study, which could cause dangerous bleeding
- You have high blood pressure that cannot be adequately controlled with medication (confirm with trial site for exact levels)
- You have had another type of cancer within the past 5 years (exceptions may apply for certain fully treated skin or cervical cancers — confirm with trial site)
- The medical team has any other clinical or medical concern that makes participation unsuitable for you
