Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Children who have asthma that requires daily use of an inhaler to control symptoms
  • Children who need to use a reliever inhaler (such as albuterol) more than 2 days per week
  • Children who have exercise-induced asthma
  • Children who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder
  • Children who have ADHD and are currently taking medication for it
  • Children who have been diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
  • Children who have epilepsy
  • Children who have cancer
  • Children who have chronic kidney disease
  • Children who have a hormone or gland-related condition, such as an underactive thyroid or growth hormone deficiency
  • Children who have an autoimmune disease, such as lupus or juvenile arthritis
  • Children who have a bleeding disorder, such as hemophilia
  • Children who have a long-term infection such as HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C
  • Children who have a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety
  • Children who have type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • Children who have other existing health conditions or take medications that the trial investigators determine could affect the study results (confirm with trial site)
  • Children or parents who indicate during the sign-up process that they are unwilling to have blood drawn (note: children who change their mind after joining, or whose blood draw cannot be completed, may still be able to remain in the study)
  • Children who dislike the study products, as assessed at the first visit
  • Children whose fasting blood sugar level is 126 mg/dL or higher at enrolment
  • Children whose fasting HbA1c (a blood sugar marker measured over time) is 6.5% or higher at enrolment
  • Children who have finished a course of antibiotics less than 2 months before joining the study
