Who might be able to join this trial:
- People diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (stage 3b, 3c, or stage 4) or extensive stage small cell lung cancer, whether newly diagnosed or returned after previous treatment
- People aged 18 or older
- People whose general physical functioning falls within a certain range, meaning they are able to carry out at least some daily activities (confirm with trial site for exact level required)
- People who are between 3 and 12 weeks into a treatment plan involving infusions such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or a combination of both
- People who have recorded a distress score of 3 out of 10 or higher in the past month, or who have scored 2 or higher on a specific psychological distress questionnaire called the Rotterdam Symptom Checklist
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer has spread to the brain in a way that is currently unstable, such as worsening neurological symptoms, poorly controlled seizures, or a need for increasing steroid medication
- People with a cognitive condition such as dementia, or a psychiatric condition such as a psychotic disorder, that would make participation unsuitable
- People who are already receiving palliative care or psychological support services at the same cancer centre
- People who are not able to speak and read English
- People whose hearing or vision difficulties would prevent them from taking part in the study
