Who might be able to join this trial:
- One person in the couple must be a current military service member or veteran, and their romantic partner must also be willing to take part.
- The couple must be married or living together for at least 3 months (both different-sex and same-sex couples are welcome).
- The service member or veteran must have a diagnosis of PTSD, confirmed through a structured clinical interview called the CAPS-5.
- Both people in the couple must be at least 18 years old.
- Both people in the couple must be able to speak and read English.
Who may not be able to join:
- Either person in the couple is currently having thoughts of suicide serious enough to need immediate help.
- Either person in the couple currently poses a risk of harming someone else and needs crisis support.
- Either person in the couple has had serious problems with alcohol in the past 12 weeks, or their alcohol use needs immediate attention.
- Either person in the couple has had a manic episode or symptoms of a psychotic disorder in the past month.
- Either person in the couple has a moderate or severe traumatic brain injury or another condition that significantly affects thinking or memory.
- The couple is currently separated or has taken steps to end their relationship.
- Either person in the couple is currently receiving an established PTSD treatment, such as Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, among others (confirm with trial site if unsure whether a current treatment counts).
- There is evidence or an admission of serious physical aggression within the relationship in the past 6 months, based on a specific screening question asked to both partners.
