Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 or older
- People whose CT scan shows one or more lung nodules smaller than 3cm that are already planned for a biopsy or surgery (up to 2 or more nodules are allowed, as long as they are the same type based on their density on the scan)
- People who are in reasonably good general health, as measured by a standard medical scoring tool called the ECOG scale (scores 0–2, meaning able to carry out normal daily activities or only mildly limited)
- People whose blood counts, liver, and kidney results fall within acceptable ranges — specifically: white blood cell count, platelet count, and haemoglobin levels above certain thresholds, liver enzyme levels no more than 2.5 times the normal upper limit, and kidney function within a defined normal range
- People who are able to understand the trial information and are willing to sign a written consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose scans suggest the disease may have spread to other parts of the body
- People with 2 or more lung nodules that are of different types based on their density on the scan
- People with a history of any cancer
- People who have had a serious blood vessel event in the last 3 months, or who have a known significant active infection, active or chronic tuberculosis, serious heart or brain conditions, liver or kidney problems, significant hormone or metabolic disorders, or other serious ongoing medical conditions that are not well controlled
- People whose specialist or surgeon has assessed that a biopsy or surgery is not safe for them — for example, due to blood clotting problems or heart and lung conditions
- People with a history of uncontrolled epilepsy, brain or nervous system disease, or a psychiatric condition that may affect their ability to understand and sign the consent form
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who the trial investigator considers unsuitable for the trial for any other reason
