Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are currently in hospital due to a flare-up of a diffuse interstitial lung disease (a condition where lung tissue becomes inflamed or scarred) (confirm with trial site).
- You are currently in hospital with an infectious lung infection that was not caused by COVID-19.
- You are currently in hospital due to a worsening episode of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a long-term lung condition that makes breathing difficult.
- You are an outpatient (not currently hospitalised) with a specific type of lung damage called emphysema, where air sacs in the lungs are enlarged or damaged, and your condition is currently stable.
- You are an outpatient with stable COPD (not currently experiencing a flare-up).
- You are able to read, understand, and sign a written consent form agreeing to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a history of skin irritation, redness, itching, or allergic skin reactions.
- You have had allergic reactions to adhesives (such as plasters or stickers) or hydrogels (gel-like substances used on the skin).
- A close family member has had allergic reactions to adhesives on the skin.
- You have serious skin problems such as open wounds, burns, or damaged skin.
- Your environment contains strong magnetic fields (confirm with trial site).
- Your environment has significant sources of electrical or radiation interference that could affect equipment readings (confirm with trial site).
- You use an external heart defibrillator device.
- You use a device that stimulates your diaphragm (the muscle that helps you breathe).
- You use any other type of device that electrically stimulates the body outside of the heart.
- You are currently pregnant.
- You are under 18 years of age (confirm with trial site).
