Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have a known mass (growth) on your kidney where more than 25% of it shows up clearly on imaging scans
- The kidney mass measures more than 2 cm but no larger than 7 cm in size
- You are older than 18 years of age
- You are able to understand the study information and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently pregnant
- You have already had a needle biopsy (a small tissue sample taken through the skin) of the kidney mass before
- You have already received any treatment for the kidney mass
- There has been previous bleeding inside the kidney mass
- You have a medical reason why you cannot have an MRI scan or a PET scan
- Your kidney mass has certain features on previous scans that make it ineligible — for example, if it contains visible fat deposits or if less than 25% of it shows up clearly on imaging (confirm with trial site)
- You have a known genetic condition that makes you more likely to develop kidney masses, such as Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD), or Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), among others
- You have more than 3 kidney masses at the time of your first diagnosis
