Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have a known mass (growth) on your kidney where more than 25% of it shows up clearly on imaging scans
  • The kidney mass measures more than 2 cm but no larger than 7 cm in size
  • You are older than 18 years of age
  • You are able to understand the study information and are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently pregnant
  • You have already had a needle biopsy (a small tissue sample taken through the skin) of the kidney mass before
  • You have already received any treatment for the kidney mass
  • There has been previous bleeding inside the kidney mass
  • You have a medical reason why you cannot have an MRI scan or a PET scan
  • Your kidney mass has certain features on previous scans that make it ineligible — for example, if it contains visible fat deposits or if less than 25% of it shows up clearly on imaging (confirm with trial site)
  • You have a known genetic condition that makes you more likely to develop kidney masses, such as Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD), or Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), among others
  • You have more than 3 kidney masses at the time of your first diagnosis
