Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with melanoma that has been confirmed by lab testing, cannot be surgically removed, and has either spread to nearby areas or to other parts of the body (stage III or IV), and your cancer has come back or gotten worse after at least one previous standard treatment.
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a scan.
- You are in generally good physical condition and able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site what this score means for you).
- Your doctor estimates you have a life expectancy of at least 3 months.
- If you are a woman who could become pregnant, or a man whose partner could become pregnant, you agree to use effective birth control throughout the entire treatment and for 6 months after treatment ends.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant before, during, or within 6 months after the last dose of the study drug.
- Your melanoma has spread to your brain or spinal cord and is currently causing symptoms or is considered active.
- Your recent blood tests (within 7 days before starting the trial) show that your red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets are below certain levels (confirm specific numbers with the trial site).
- Your recent blood tests (within 7 days before starting) show that your liver, kidney, or protein levels are outside acceptable ranges (confirm specific numbers with the trial site).
- Your recent blood clotting tests (within 7 days before starting) show abnormal results, unless you are already on stable blood-thinning medication (confirm with trial site).
- You have had a blood clot in a vein or in your lungs within the past 4 weeks, unless it has been fully treated and your doctor considers it stable.
- You have uncontrolled bleeding or a known tendency to bleed.
