Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your diagnosis is either atypical endometrial hyperplasia (abnormal cells in the uterine lining) or a very early-stage, low-grade form of uterine cancer (stage IA, well-differentiated endometrioid adenocarcinoma).
- A scan (MRI) before treatment showed the cancer has not spread deeply into the uterine muscle, the cervix, or outside the uterus.
- You have a strong wish to preserve your ability to have children in the future.
- You are 45 years old or younger.
- You are either a new patient who has not yet started hormone treatment, or you have completed one course (12 weeks) with the cancer still present, or you had a partial response after two courses (24 weeks).
- You are willing and able to attend regular follow-up appointments at the hospital.
- Your cholesterol levels are either normal or abnormal, but you are not currently taking any cholesterol-lowering medications.
- You have been assessed using a special prediction tool (from a related study) to estimate how your cancer may respond to progesterone treatment (confirm with trial site).
- You have been given full information about the trial and have signed a consent form.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have serious other health conditions or significantly reduced liver or kidney function.
- Your cancer has progressed or spread outside the uterus (for example, to the cervix or pelvis) during treatment.
- You have a known allergy or medical reason why you cannot take the drugs used in this trial.
- You have a different type of uterine cancer, another cancer of the reproductive system, breast cancer, or any other cancer that is sensitive to hormones and would prevent the use of progesterone.
- You developed a blood clot in a vein (deep vein thrombosis), stroke, or heart attack during treatment.
- You drink more than 20 grams of alcohol per day (roughly 1.5 standard drinks).
- You smoke more than 15 cigarettes per day.
