Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been newly diagnosed with a type of head and neck cancer called squamous cell carcinoma, confirmed by a tissue sample or needle test, where the cancer started in the mouth, voice box, throat, back of the nasal passage, or back of the throat.
- People whose treatment plan includes chemotherapy combined with radiation therapy, or surgery.
- People who are willing and able to agree to take part by signing an approved consent form.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant.
- People who experience severe anxiety or distress in enclosed spaces (claustrophobia).
- People who have a pacemaker, spinal stimulator, cochlear implant, or other metal objects in their body that are not safe to use with MRI scanning.
- People who have already received treatment for head and neck cancer, including surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy.
- People whose cancer originated in the thyroid, skin, sinuses, nasal cavity, or salivary glands.
- People whose kidneys are not functioning well enough, based on a specific blood test result falling below a certain level (confirm with trial site).
- People with diabetes that is not well controlled.
- People who had a specific type of imaging scan (FDG-PET/CT) done at another facility before starting their initial treatment.
