Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 75 years old
- People who have been confirmed through tissue or cell testing to have squamous cell lung cancer, with imaging showing the cancer is locally advanced or has spread and cannot be surgically removed or treated with a standard combination of chemotherapy and radiation (Stage IIIB–IV)
- People who have at least one tumour that can be measured on a scan, according to standard medical measurement guidelines
- People who are able to provide a sufficient tissue or cell sample of acceptable quality so that a protein called PD-L1 can be tested
- People who have not previously received any systemic (whole-body) cancer treatment for their locally advanced or metastatic disease
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer is a type called small cell lung cancer (SCLC), including cancers that are a mix of SCLC and non-small cell lung cancer
- People whose cancer is a type called lung adenocarcinoma, including cancers that are a mix of adenocarcinoma and squamous cell lung cancer
- People whose cancer has certain specific genetic features — known as EGFR sensitive mutation, ALK fusion positive, or ROS1 fusion positive (confirm with trial site)
- People who have previously been treated with certain immune-based therapies, including anti-PD-1, anti-PD-L1, or anti-PD-L2 drugs, or similar medicines that affect how the immune system's T cells respond to cancer
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
