Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have lived in the same city as the hospital for at least six months
• People aged 50 years or older who are currently in hospital with a fracture
• People who have never had a fracture before
• People who have never been diagnosed with osteoporosis before being admitted to hospital
• People who have never had a bone density test and have never taken any osteoporosis medication in the four years before being admitted to hospital
• People whose fracture is located in the hip, mid-back (thoracic spine), or lower back (lumbar spine)
• People whose fracture was caused by a minor event such as a fall from standing height or less, and where the fracture occurred within the last six weeks
• People who were living in their own home (not a nursing home or rehabilitation facility) before the fracture
• People who are able to read and understand consent forms and health information on their own

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose fracture was caused by a tumour or infection
• People who have been diagnosed with a cognitive condition (such as dementia) or a mental health disorder
• People who have HIV/AIDS
• People who are unwilling or unlikely to attend follow-up appointments, or who are unable to cooperate with the follow-up process
• People who have a hearing or vision impairment that prevents them from communicating or reading materials
• People who are currently taking part in another research study
• People who the trial doctor considers unsuitable for the trial for any other reason (confirm with trial site)
