Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You have lymph nodes in the side of your neck that appear to be affected by cancer, based on a physical exam, scans, or findings during surgery
  • A needle biopsy of your lymph nodes has shown signs of, or confirmed, a type of thyroid cancer called papillary carcinoma spreading to the lymph nodes
  • Your surgeon has recommended surgery to remove lymph nodes on the side of your neck due to suspected or confirmed cancer spread
  • You may or may not also need your thyroid removed or lymph nodes in the front of your neck treated at the same time

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have previously had surgery to remove lymph nodes in your neck
  • Your cancer has been confirmed by a tissue sample to be a type called medullary or anaplastic thyroid carcinoma
  • You have a previous injury to the spinal accessory nerve (a nerve in your neck and shoulder area) (confirm with trial site)
