Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You have been diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE, a type of autoimmune disease) — either through standard medical classification systems or by a doctor based on your symptoms
  • Your SLE is currently at a low to moderate level of activity, meaning your symptoms are relatively mild or controlled
  • You have little to no lasting organ damage caused by your SLE
  • Your medications have been stable and unchanged recently
  • You are physically able to complete a maximum-effort exercise test on a stationary bike
  • You are able to read and understand Swedish

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have had, within the past year, any signs or symptoms of stroke, blood clots in the lungs, high blood pressure in the lungs, lung scarring, heart disease, chest pain, heart attack, breathlessness at rest, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or uncontrolled diabetes (confirm with trial site for full details)
  • You have serious kidney disease (confirm with trial site for full details)
  • You have a medical condition that the American Heart Association considers an absolute reason not to do a maximum-effort exercise test
  • Your SLE itself makes it impossible for you to complete a maximum-effort exercise test on a stationary bike
  • You have any other illness or condition that greatly limits your ability to exercise, or where exercise is not advised
  • You already regularly do aerobic fitness or muscle strength training on a fixed schedule more than once per week
  • You are currently pregnant
