Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 70, of any sex
- People with a good general health and activity level, as measured by a standard oncology scoring system called ECOG, with a score of 0 or 1 (meaning able to carry out normal daily activities with little or no restriction)
- People who are willing to give informed consent and who understand the goals and procedures of the study
- People who have been newly diagnosed with a specific type of nasopharyngeal cancer (a cancer at the back of the nose/throat), confirmed by tissue testing, classified as WHO Type II or III, at clinical stages I through IVa based on a standard cancer staging system
- People who have not yet received any radiotherapy or chemotherapy before joining the trial
- People with an expected survival time of 6 months or more
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with significantly reduced heart, liver, lung, kidney, or bone marrow function, or other serious medical conditions
- People who had a pre-existing condition affecting the Eustachian tube (a small tube connecting the ear to the throat) or other ear problems before starting radiotherapy
- People who had a middle ear infection before radiotherapy that had not improved by the end of radiotherapy treatment
- People who have had previous surgery on the middle ear, nose, or nasopharynx on the affected side
- People with congenital cleft palate or other craniofacial (face and skull) abnormalities present from birth
- People whose tissue testing confirmed the keratinizing type of nasopharyngeal cancer, classified as WHO Type I
- People whose cancer has come back or spread to other parts of the body
- People who received radiotherapy or chemotherapy before enrolling in the trial
- People under 18 or over 70 years of age
- People whose initial treatment plan was changed during the observation period due to disease progression, including cancer remaining after radiotherapy, cancer returning, or cancer spreading to new areas
