Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type II, confirmed through a specific structured interview called a SCAN interview
- You are between 18 and 70 years old
- You are able to understand and give your own informed consent to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously tried lamotrigine or lithium for more than 6 weeks at a proper dose and it either did not work for you or you could not tolerate it
- You are currently taking mood-stabilising medications at the time of joining the trial
- You have severe long-term kidney disease
- You have severe heart failure
- You have a heart condition called Brugada syndrome
- You have severe underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) that has not been brought under control even with treatment
- You are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant in the near future
