Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who can read, write, and speak English
- People who have internet access and the ability to join video or audio calls (such as Zoom) from home, either by phone or computer
For people with fibromyalgia, one of the following must apply:
- A doctor has diagnosed the person with fibromyalgia
- The person meets a set of standard scoring criteria for fibromyalgia based on widespread pain and symptom severity (confirm with trial site for exact scores)
- The person reports pain in at least 4 out of 7 body regions on a specific body map, and a doctor has diagnosed them with Opioid Use Disorder
For people with lupus, all of the following must apply:
- A doctor has diagnosed the person with systemic lupus erythematosus (a type of autoimmune disease)
- The person reports pain in at least 4 out of 7 body regions on a specific body map
- The person's medications and steroid doses have not changed in the month before joining the trial
For people with chronic low back pain, both of the following must apply:
- The person has had low back pain on at least half the days over the past 6 months
- Over the past 7 days, the person's average pain level has been at least 4 out of 10
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose chronic pain is thought to be caused by another condition (such as inflammatory arthritis, other autoimmune disorders, spinal cord injury, or cancer)
- People who are currently receiving cognitive-behavioural therapy or other psychological treatments for pain
- People who have had open legal proceedings related to their chronic pain within the past year
- People whose ability to understand and complete study procedures is in question, as assessed by study staff during the consent process
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with other diseases or conditions that the trial's lead investigators determine would make participation unsuitable
- For lupus participants only: People taking more than 10 mg of prednisone (or an equivalent steroid medication) per day
- For chronic pelvic pain participants only: People who have had surgery for a chronic pelvic pain condition within the past 6 months
- For chronic low back pain participants only: People who have a back surgery scheduled, or whose leg pain is greater than their back pain
