Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 40 years of age or older
- People who have been prescribed long-term oxygen therapy (oxygen used at home for health reasons) for at least 15 hours per day, and have been on this therapy for at least 28 days, as recorded in a Swedish oxygen registry called Swedevox
- People whose main reason for needing home oxygen is COPD (a lung disease affecting breathing) or ILD (a condition causing scarring or inflammation in the lungs)
- People who use an oxygen concentrator (a machine that draws oxygen from the air) as their main oxygen source at home, including during the night
- People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) below 35
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently receiving, or have previously received, high-flow oxygen therapy at home
- People who are currently using a mechanical ventilator (a machine that helps with breathing) at home
- People who are currently using a CPAP machine (a device that keeps airways open during sleep) at home
- People who have been in hospital within the last 2 weeks
- People who currently smoke or are regularly near open flames
- People who report using their home oxygen for less than 15 hours per day on average
- People whose carbon dioxide levels in the blood (measured while breathing normal air at rest) are above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
- People where the treating medical staff have strong reason to suspect obstructive sleep apnea (a condition where breathing repeatedly stops during sleep) or a related breathing disorder linked to obesity
- People whom the trial staff assess as unable to take part in the study procedures
- People whom the trial staff assess as no longer suitable to continue home oxygen therapy for any other reason
- People whom the trial staff assess as having an expected survival of less than 3 months
