Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been confirmed by laboratory testing to have an advanced or spreading solid tumour cancer.
- People who have received at least 12 weeks of continuous treatment with a type of immunotherapy drug (known as an anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1 therapy), either on its own or combined with other cancer treatments.
- People who previously showed a positive response to that immunotherapy treatment — such as their tumour shrinking or disappearing, or remaining stable for at least 6 months (this requirement applies to one part of the trial only; confirm with trial site).
- People whose cancer has since been shown on scans to be growing again while on that immunotherapy treatment, or within 12 weeks of their last dose of it.
- People who have at least one tumour that can be measured using standard imaging criteria.
- People with an estimated life expectancy of at least 3 months.
- People whose blood tests show their bone marrow and major organs are functioning adequately.
- Female participants who are not currently pregnant and are not breastfeeding.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with immune-related medical conditions that could make receiving the study drug pembrolizumab more risky.
- People who have another cancer (separate from the one being studied) that is still growing or has needed active treatment within the past 2 years.
- People who have received radiation therapy within the past 2 weeks (for bone-directed palliative treatment) or within the past 4 weeks (for all other types of radiation therapy).
- People who have had major surgery within 4 weeks before the first study treatment dose, or who have not sufficiently recovered from a previous surgery.
- People who have been diagnosed with a condition that weakens the immune system, or who are taking steroid medications at a dose greater than 10 mg per day.
- People who have an active autoimmune disease that has needed systemic (whole-body) treatment within the past 2 years.
- People with currently active cancer spread to the brain or the lining of the brain or spinal cord.
- People with serious heart disease.
- People with an active infection requiring treatment, including uncontrolled HIV, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C.
- People who have received a live or weakened-live vaccine within the past 30 days, or any other type of vaccine within the past 7 days before the first dose of the study drug.
