Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have chronic kidney disease at stages G1 through G4, with kidney function test results (eGFR) either at or above 60 (if protein levels in urine are also elevated) or between 15 and 60
- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, shown through a blood sugar test result, a specific blood marker (HbA1c) of 6.5% or higher, a fasting blood sugar of 126 mg/dl or higher, or who are currently taking diabetes medication
- People who have high blood pressure (140/90 mmHg or above), or who are currently taking blood pressure-lowering medication
- People who have high cholesterol, shown by an LDL cholesterol level above 130 mg/dl, or who are currently taking cholesterol-lowering medication
Who may not be able to join:
- People who had a significant sudden worsening of kidney function (beyond a mild level) in the two weeks before the study visit
- People with stage 5 (end-stage) kidney disease
- People who have previously been diagnosed with chronic heart failure
- People who had a heart attack in the 30 days before the study visit
- People who had a stroke in the 30 days before the study visit
- People with a known heart defect present from birth
- People previously diagnosed with specific heart muscle diseases, diseases affecting the heart through deposits or inflammation (such as sarcoidosis, amyloidosis, or other storage diseases), or conditions causing stiffening around the heart
- People who have an implanted heart device, such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, or cardiac resynchronisation device
- People who have an implanted mechanical heart valve
- People who are not able to give informed consent to participate
- People who do not have health insurance
- People who have received an organ transplant
- People who are currently taking immune-suppressing medication
- People who had major surgery in the 6 months before the study visit, including heart bypass or valve surgery, major blood vessel surgery, major abdominal surgery, or limb amputation
