Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with a confirmed invasive squamous cell carcinoma (a type of cancer) in the head and neck area, specifically in locations including the sinonasal area, oral cavity, hypopharynx, larynx, HPV-negative oropharyngeal region, or advanced HPV-positive oropharyngeal region (T4 stage, any lymph node involvement)
  • People who are planned to receive standard curative radiation therapy, with or without chemotherapy (cisplatin or cetuximab) and/or a medication called nimorazole
  • People aged 18 years or older
  • People with a general health and activity level rated 0–2 on the WHO performance scale, meaning they are able to carry out at least some daily activities independently (confirm with trial site)
  • People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial
  • People who are able to understand information about the study and complete questionnaires

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose cancer is at an early stage classified as cT1 cN0-N1 cM0 (confirm with trial site for exact staging definitions)
  • People with early-stage glottic (voice box) cancer classified as cT1–T2 cN0 cM0
  • People with HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer at stages T1–T3 (regardless of lymph node involvement)
  • People who have diabetes mellitus
  • People who are currently taking blood-thinning (anticoagulant) medications
  • People who are currently smoking and/or have active alcohol misuse
