Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Parents of children who have been diagnosed with ADHD by both a psychiatrist and a psychologist, using the DSM-5 (a standard diagnostic guide used by mental health professionals)
  • Parents of children with ADHD who are between 6 and 12 years old
  • Parents who have been the main caregiver for their child over the past year, and whose child speaks and understands Cantonese Chinese
  • Children who are either not taking any ADHD medication, or who have been on a stable dose of the same ADHD medication for at least 3 months before the study starts, with no planned changes to that medication or dose during the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • Parents who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability, psychosis, or a condition affecting thinking or understanding, as these may make it difficult to engage with the program content
  • Children who have also been diagnosed with another developmental condition, such as autism spectrum disorder or an intellectual disability
  • Parents who have already completed an eight-week mindfulness-based program (MBI) or a similar program of equivalent length and content
