Who might be able to join this trial:

• There must be clinical signs and scan results suggesting the presence of a brain tumor.
• A biopsy of a suspected or previously diagnosed brain tumor must already be planned as part of routine care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
• The patient must be willing to give informed consent to participate.
• The patient must be willing to have their Ommaya reservoir (a small device implanted in the head to access fluid) sampled on at least two future occasions.
• The patient must be willing to have cerebrospinal fluid (the fluid surrounding the brain and spine) stored in a research tissue bank, which requires signing a separate consent form.

Who may not be able to join:

• Adults who do not have the mental capacity to give informed consent for themselves may not be eligible.
• People under 18 years old, pregnant women, and prisoners are not eligible.
• People whose medical history or current health conditions make biopsy surgery unsuitable may not be eligible.
• People who have had a wound infection at any point in the past may not be eligible.
• People whom the surgeon considers not to be a good candidate for placement of the Ommaya reservoir device may not be eligible — reasons could include surgical anatomy, signs of a weakened immune system, or increased risk of wound infection due to factors such as diabetes, smoking history, or significant obesity (confirm with trial site for a full list of reasons).
