Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who were first diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) within the last 5 years, with that diagnosis recorded on a heart tracing (ECG) taken from the surface of the skin
- People who have a high number of health risk factors, measured by a scoring system called CHA2DS2-VASc, with a score of 4 or higher

- People who are pregnant
- People who are breastfeeding
- People with a known drug addiction or a serious alcohol problem
- People who have previously had a catheter ablation procedure or surgery to treat their atrial fibrillation
- People whose doctors consider them unsuitable for an ablation procedure
- People who had a stroke in the 3 months before enrolling in the trial
- People with a heart valve problem that requires specific medical treatment
- People with a thyroid condition that is causing symptoms and currently requires treatment
