Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older (male or female)
- A small solid mass (less than 4 cm) was found on your kidney unexpectedly during an imaging scan such as an ultrasound, CT, or MRI
- A tissue sample (needle biopsy) has confirmed that the mass is a type of kidney cancer called renal cell carcinoma (RCC)
- You are not currently receiving active treatment for your kidney mass, either because of older age, other health conditions, or a personal choice to avoid active treatment
- You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study
- You are willing to undergo a needle biopsy of the tumor and attend regular follow-up appointments as required by the study
Who may not be able to join:
- Your kidney tumor has been found to be a different type of cancer, such as a sarcoma or lymphoma, rather than renal cell carcinoma
- Your cancer has already spread to other parts of your body at the time of diagnosis
- You are experiencing symptoms directly caused by the kidney tumor
- You have a known inherited genetic condition that is linked to kidney cancer, such as Von Hippel-Lindau disease, Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome, or Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Cancer (confirm with trial site)
- You take blood-thinning or anti-clotting medications that cannot be safely stopped temporarily, making a needle biopsy too risky
- The location of your tumor or its very small size makes it unsuitable for a needle biopsy
- You are currently receiving systemic treatment (such as chemotherapy or immunotherapy) for a different type of cancer
- Your expected life expectancy is less than one year
