Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 65 years of age
- People whose general health before surgery has been assessed as falling within a certain accepted range for anaesthesia risk (known as ASA physical status 1–3 — confirm with trial site what this means for a specific situation)
- People who are scheduled to have planned keyhole lung surgery (called VATS) to remove part or all of a lung lobe due to lung cancer
Who may not be able to join:

- People whose kidneys are not working within a normal range, based on a blood test result that is more than 50% above the upper normal level
- People who had a scan using a special dye (called contrast material) injected into their body before the surgery
- People who have been diagnosed with heart failure (where the heart is not pumping well enough) based on symptoms and scans, and who have already started treatment for it
- People who have had fluid build-up in the lungs (pulmonary edema) in the past
- People who have used steroid medications or anti-inflammatory pain medicines (such as ibuprofen) for longer than 30 days
- People who needed to be placed on a breathing machine in an intensive care unit
- People who needed a large blood transfusion during surgery
- People whose required test results or data are incomplete
