Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have been diagnosed with ocular myasthenia gravis (a condition affecting eye muscles) within the last 6 months
- Your diagnosis was confirmed either by a specialist doctor observing typical symptoms, a positive blood test for certain antibodies, or specific nerve or medication tests (confirm with trial site)
- You have had eye symptoms — such as drooping eyelids and/or double vision — for at least one month, and these symptoms affect only the eye area
- Your symptoms have not spread beyond your eyes, as confirmed by standard assessments
- You have not previously taken any immune-suppressing medications for this eye condition
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a tumour of the thymus gland (thymoma)
- You have abnormal pupil reactions not explained by a previous eye condition or surgery
- You have eye movement problems caused by a thyroid-related eye condition
- You have Graves' ophthalmopathy (a specific thyroid-related eye disease)
- Your eye symptoms began more than one year before the trial screening date
- You have a known allergy to any of the medications used in this trial, including rituximab, prednisone, azathioprine, or paracetamol, among others (confirm with trial site)
- You currently have any type of infection
- You have a seriously weakened immune system
- You have severe heart failure or serious uncontrolled heart disease
- You have severe liver disease
- You have a psychotic condition that is not yet controlled by treatment
- You have high uric acid levels and are taking certain medications to control it (such as allopurinol or febuxostat)
- You are at risk of a specific type of glaucoma called angle-closure glaucoma
- You have a prostate or urinary condition that could cause difficulty urinating
- You need to receive a live vaccine during the study or within 6 months after finishing the trial treatment
- You are a woman who could become pregnant and are not willing to use effective contraception during the trial and for at least 12 months afterwards
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
