  • Thai women between 18 and 45 years old who are living with obesity and have a scheduled bariatric (weight-loss) surgery appointment at Chulalongkorn Hospital
  • Women who need a form of birth control
  • Women who are able to use non-hormonal birth control methods during the study period

Who may not be able to join:

  • Women who are currently pregnant or who have given birth within the last 3 months

  • Women who have used any other hormonal birth control pills within the last 4 weeks
  • Women who have had both ovaries removed or have had a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)
  • Women with a suspected ovarian tumour or an abnormal ovarian cyst
  • Women who smoke cigarettes regularly
  • Women who have a medical reason that means they should not take a hormone called Drospirenone (confirm with trial site)
