Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with oral cavity cancer (confirmed by tissue testing) that has not yet been treated, at a stage of T2-4N0M0 or T1-4N1-3M0 (stages II to IVB based on a standard cancer staging system)
- People whose surgical tissue showed either no remaining cancer cells (complete response) or very few remaining cancer cells — 10% or less (major response) — after pre-surgery treatment
- People whose surgery removed all cancer with clear edges, meaning no cancer cells were found at the borders of what was removed
- People whose cancer had not spread beyond the lymph nodes into surrounding tissue
- People aged 18 to 80 years old
- People who are generally well enough to carry out daily activities, with minimal or no limitations (as measured by a standard health performance scale scoring 0 or 1)
- People with a life expectancy of more than 6 months
- Women who are able to become pregnant and agree to use contraception during treatment and for 3 months after treatment ends
- People whose pre-surgery treatment plan was decided by their treating doctor
- People who are willing to participate voluntarily and have signed a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had another cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years, except for certain fully treated cancers including a specific type of skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma), early-stage cervical cancer, or thyroid papilloma
- People who did not complete their pre-surgery treatment or their surgery
- People whose cancer came back or spread to other parts of the body before post-surgery radiation treatment began
- People who have medical reasons that prevent them from receiving radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy
- People with heart conditions or heart disease that is not well controlled
- People with serious active infections
- People with a history of immune system deficiency, including HIV, other immune conditions present from birth or developed later, or a history of organ or bone marrow transplant
- People with active tuberculosis (TB), a TB infection within the past year, or a TB infection at any time that was not properly treated
- People with active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infections above certain measurable levels in the blood
- People with a known history of substance abuse, heavy alcohol use, or drug use
- People the trial investigators consider unsuitable for participation for other medical reasons (confirm with trial site)
