Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a structural heart condition — such as a heart affected by blocked arteries, a weakened heart muscle, or a heart defect present from birth — where heart scans or tests show abnormal heart wall movement, thickened heart muscle, or scarring in the heart.
- People who have had a recurring specific type of dangerous heart rhythm called monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT), which means at least one episode treated by a defibrillator device (ICD), or a VT episode lasting more than 30 seconds, or a VT episode triggered during a specialised heart electrical test.
- People who score 9 or more on a medical risk tool called the PAINESD score, or who are assessed as being at least moderately at risk of VT returning or of death based on another tool called the I-VT score — both are established tools doctors use to identify people at higher risk after a heart procedure (confirm with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- People under 18 years of age.
- People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than 3 months.
- People for whom a heart catheter ablation procedure has been assessed by a heart rhythm specialist as being unlikely to help or as carrying too high a risk.
- People who are unwilling or unable to give their consent to participate.
- People known to have inherited heart electrical conditions such as CPVT, long or short QT syndrome, or Brugada syndrome.
- People for whom radiation therapy has been assessed as unsuitable or unsafe by their treating doctors.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
