Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 years or older
  • People who are being considered as candidates for a lung transplant
  • People who are currently attending outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation as part of their standard care
  • People who have been diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have had a respiratory flare-up or worsening of their lung condition within the past month
  • People with neurological or movement/joint conditions that could interfere with breathing muscle training or physical assessments (for example, a history of stroke or severe arthritis in the hands)
  • People who do not have sufficient English language skills to give informed consent or follow the study instructions
  • People whose recent lung imaging (within the last 6 months) shows a collapsed or punctured lung (pneumothorax)
  • People who currently have a ruptured eardrum or an ear infection causing fluid behind the eardrum
  • People whose heart tests (such as an echocardiogram or right heart catheterisation) show significant pressure or volume overload on the left or right side of the heart
  • People with severe bone thinning (osteoporosis) who have a history of rib fractures
  • People who have a cardiac pacemaker or any other electronic or magnetic implanted device in their body
  • People who are assessed as rapidly deteriorating in health, or who are currently admitted as an inpatient, at the time of eligibility assessment
  • People who are waiting for a second (re-transplant) lung transplant
  • People who are unable to connect to the internet
