Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific, early-stage type of uterine cancer (well-differentiated endometrial cancer, Grade 1) confirmed by a procedure called a hysteroscopy, with no growth into the uterine wall.
- People with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher (classified as obese).
- People whose scans (MRI, CT, or ultrasound) show no signs that the cancer has spread outside the uterus.
- People who are currently being treated with a hormone therapy called progestin as their first treatment — this includes specific medications (megestrol acetate or medroxyprogesterone acetate) and/or a hormonal IUD (intrauterine device).
- People whose cancer has not responded well enough to progestin treatment — either the cancer stayed the same after 7 months of treatment, or it had not fully cleared after 10 months of treatment.
- People who wish to preserve their ability to have children or to keep their uterus.
- People who are able and willing to attend follow-up appointments and stick to the treatment plan.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have serious medical conditions or severely reduced liver or kidney function.
- People whose cancer has been found to have grown into the uterine wall or spread to other parts of the body.
- People diagnosed with a different type of uterine cancer or another cancer of the reproductive system.
- People who have breast cancer or another type of cancer or condition that is affected by hormones, where the trial medications (GnRHa or Letrozole) would not be safe to use.
- People who strongly prefer to have their uterus surgically removed or to pursue a different type of treatment.
- People who are known or suspected to be pregnant.
- People who have had a stroke, heart attack, or blood clots, or who are currently experiencing a serious sudden illness of this kind.
- People who smoke more than 15 cigarettes per day.
