Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD (according to standard psychiatric guidelines) for at least 6 months, as confirmed by a study psychiatrist
- People whose PTSD symptoms are rated as moderate to severe based on a standardised assessment score of 50 or higher
- People who are willing to avoid taking any psychiatric medications for the entire duration of the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who are capable of becoming pregnant and are not using an effective form of contraception
- People who have ever been diagnosed with, or currently have, a primary diagnosis of psychosis, schizophrenia, delusional disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, or dissociative identity disorder
- People who have a history of, or currently have, heart artery disease, blood vessel disease affecting the brain or limbs, liver disease with abnormal liver test results, or any other medical condition that the investigator considers would significantly increase the risks of participating
- People who have high blood pressure measuring 140/90 or higher on three separate occasions, using standard American Heart Association guidelines
- People who have a history of seizures or epilepsy
- People who have diabetes requiring insulin that is not well controlled
- People who have had a stroke, a bleed in or around the brain, a heart attack, or a significant heart rhythm problem within the past year
- People who have liver disease (with the exception of those who had Hepatitis C without symptoms and have already been successfully treated for it)
- People who have ever experienced a psychotic episode caused by substance use
- People who have ever had a substance use disorder specifically involving hallucinogens
- People who have had an alcohol use disorder within the past 3 months
