Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been referred for evaluation of blood in your urine (either found under a microscope within the last 180 days, or detected by a urine dip test at your referral appointment and confirmed the same day)
- You are physically able to provide a urine sample by urinating normally, and your bladder has not been surgically changed or rerouted
- You are able to read and sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- You are willing and able to follow all the steps required by the study
- You are between 19 years old (or the legal age of consent in your area) and 88 years old at the time you sign the consent form
- You can understand written and spoken English well enough to follow all study instructions on your own, OR you can understand Spanish and have access to an English-Spanish interpreter for all spoken parts of the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You have previously been diagnosed with bladder cancer
- You have a history of cancer in the upper parts of the urinary tract (kidneys or ureters) or in the urethra near the prostate
- You have had a severe episode of visible blood in your urine that required a medical procedure or hospital stay within the last 12 months
- Your bladder has been surgically rebuilt or rerouted (for example, with a bladder enlargement surgery or a urine diversion pouch)
- You have another reason, besides blood in urine, that your doctor is recommending a bladder camera examination (cystoscopy) — for example, severe prostate symptoms or a suspected narrowing of the urethra
- A bladder camera examination (cystoscopy) is not safe for you due to another health condition or due to your anatomy
- You have had radiation treatment to your pelvic area at any point in the past
- You are currently receiving chemotherapy through your bloodstream, or have done so within the last 6 weeks
- You have a history of a parasitic infection called schistosomiasis
- You have had a long-term urinary catheter in place for more than 3 months, or long-term bladder stones lasting more than 3 months
- You are currently pregnant
