Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) caused by a problem on chromosome 5 (called 5q SMA), confirmed by a genetic test
- You are between 8 and 18 years old at the time of screening
- You are able to sit up on your own without any support for at least 10 seconds
- You can raise one or both hands to your mouth, but cannot lift a 200 gram weight (about the weight of a small apple) to your mouth
- You are currently receiving a treatment that targets the underlying cause of your SMA (such as a disease-modifying therapy)
- You (and/or your parent or guardian) have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- The study team believes you would not be able to follow the study procedures or requirements
- You have severe spine curvature (scoliosis) or joint stiffness that would get in the way of playing the study game or completing the physical assessments
- You have bone or joint surgery planned in the 6 months before starting or at any point during the study period (up to 16 weeks after being enrolled)
- You are not able to read in either English or French
