Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • An ultrasound has found one or more thyroid nodules, where the main nodule is solid, measures between 1cm and 3cm, and is classified as C-TIRADS category 3 or 4A (a low-to-mildly suspicious rating on ultrasound)
  • If there are multiple nodules, the second largest must be no bigger than half the size of the largest one
  • A fine needle biopsy of the nodule has confirmed it is benign (non-cancerous), classified as Bethesda Class II
  • Your thyroid hormone levels and related antibody levels are all within the normal range on blood tests
  • You meet certain Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic criteria for thyroid nodules (confirm with trial site)
  • You are willing and able to sign a consent form to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • You show signs of a specific TCM pattern called "Yang Deficiency," which may include shortness of breath, stomach pain, loose stools, feeling cold, extreme tiredness, a pale tongue, and a deep or weak pulse (confirm with trial site)
  • You are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant within the next 12 months
  • Your ultrasound or biopsy results suggest the nodule may be cancerous
  • Your nodule is causing symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, is located behind the breastbone or in the chest, or you strongly wish to have surgery for appearance or personal reasons
  • You have taken certain Chinese herbal medicines (such as prunella preparations) in the past month, or have taken steroid medications (glucocorticoids) in the past 3 months
  • You are currently taking or plan to take thyroid hormones, iodine-based treatments, or anti-thyroid medications during the study
  • You have previously had or plan to have treatments such as ablation, radiation to the neck, or surgery during the study period
  • You have a parathyroid tumour, a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid cancer, any other cancer, serious heart disease, serious liver or kidney disease, osteoporosis, or a history of mental illness
  • You have a personal or family history of thyroid cancer or thyroid cancer syndrome
  • Your liver enzyme levels (ALT or AST) are more than 1.5 times the upper normal limit, or your kidney function marker (creatinine) is above the normal range on blood tests
  • You are known to be allergic to the study drug or any of its ingredients
  • The trial doctor decides for any other reason that the trial is not appropriate for you
