Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You have a thyroid nodule that is at least 2cm at its widest point, but with an overall volume smaller than 20ml
  • Your nodule is made up of mostly solid tissue (at least 80% solid, rather than fluid-filled)
  • Your nodule has been confirmed as non-cancerous (benign), either by two separate needle biopsies (with the most recent done within the last year), or by one benign needle biopsy combined with low-risk features seen on ultrasound
  • Both nodules that affect thyroid hormone levels and those that do not are welcome in this trial

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your nodule results from a biopsy were unclear or uncertain (not clearly benign or cancerous)
  • Your nodule extends behind the breastbone or toward the back of the neck in a way that cannot be fully seen using an ultrasound scan
  • You are currently pregnant
  • You have an irregular heartbeat (heart rhythm problems)
  • You have a pacemaker fitted
  • You have any other medical condition that your doctor believes makes it unsafe for you to undergo a heat-based treatment (confirm with trial site)
