Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 65 years old
- People who are right-handed
- People who have been diagnosed with PTSD according to the DSM-5 diagnostic guidelines
- People whose PTSD symptom score (measured by a tool called the CAPS-5) is above 35, indicating significant symptoms
- People who have been on a stable medication routine for at least four weeks before joining
- People who are able to read and understand study materials on their own and agree to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a significant neurological or medical condition, or a history of seizures, brain tumours, stroke, or a brain aneurysm
- People who have a primary psychotic disorder, bipolar I disorder, major depressive disorder, or a personality disorder
- People who have ever attempted suicide, or who score 3 or higher on a specific suicide-related question in a standard mental health assessment (confirm with trial site)
- People who have an implanted device such as a deep brain stimulator, any metal in the brain, a pacemaker, extensive dental work, magnetic metal implants, or upper body tattoos — particularly if the brain scanning (fMRI) part of the study applies to them
- People who have previously had rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation), a type of brain stimulation treatment
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study
- People who are currently receiving psychological therapy or other physical treatments
