Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a Veteran between the ages of 18 and 80
  • You have a confirmed PTSD diagnosis and are currently experiencing symptoms, shown by a score of 31 or higher on a standard PTSD symptom questionnaire called the PCL-5
  • You are fluent in English, as the testing tools used in the study are only available in English
  • You have been taking the same mental health medications at the same doses for at least the past month

  • You have a history of a psychotic disorder, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
  • You currently have an untreated alcohol or drug dependency problem

  • You were hospitalized for a medical reason within the past four weeks
  • You have any condition that would stop you from completing all parts of the study (confirm with trial site)
  • You are unable to give your own informed consent, or a legal representative makes decisions on your behalf
  • You have any active legal case related to PTSD, brain injury, disability, or military service benefits
  • You have any reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan (confirm with trial site)
  • You are currently pregnant
  • You are a minor (under 18) or currently incarcerated
  • You have a cognitive impairment that affects your ability to fully understand and agree to participate
