Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a Veteran between the ages of 18 and 80
- You have a confirmed PTSD diagnosis and are currently experiencing symptoms, shown by a score of 31 or higher on a standard PTSD symptom questionnaire called the PCL-5
- You are fluent in English, as the testing tools used in the study are only available in English
- You have been taking the same mental health medications at the same doses for at least the past month
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a history of a neurological brain disease beyond a mild traumatic brain injury (confirm with trial site for exact criteria)
- You have a history of seizures, other than a single seizure right after a head injury or a fever-related seizure in childhood
- You have a history of a psychotic disorder, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
- You currently have an untreated alcohol or drug dependency problem
- You have any implanted electrical device in your body, such as a pacemaker
- You were hospitalized for a medical reason within the past four weeks
- You have any condition that would stop you from completing all parts of the study (confirm with trial site)
- You are unable to give your own informed consent, or a legal representative makes decisions on your behalf
- You have any active legal case related to PTSD, brain injury, disability, or military service benefits
- You have any reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan (confirm with trial site)
- You are currently pregnant
- You are a minor (under 18) or currently incarcerated
- You have a cognitive impairment that affects your ability to fully understand and agree to participate
