Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • Your heart is not pumping as strongly as normal (pumping 50% or less of its capacity), and you experience noticeable symptoms such as shortness of breath or tiredness during everyday activities but are still able to walk around
  • You are either overweight based on your height and weight (BMI of 26 or above), or you carry excess weight around your waist compared to your hips (confirm with trial site for exact measurements)

  • You have been admitted to hospital for heart failure at least once in the past 6 months
  • You are willing to sign a form agreeing to take part in the study

  • Your heart failure is very severe — for example, you have been hospitalised two or more times in the past 3 months, cannot tolerate standard heart failure medicines, or need medicines to keep your heart pumping
  • Your heart failure is caused by a temporary or reversible condition, such as heart problems during or after pregnancy, or severe sudden inflammation of the heart
  • You have moderate or severe anaemia (low red blood cell levels) (confirm with trial site for exact thresholds)

  • You are currently taking weight-loss medication or are planning to have weight-loss surgery
  • You have a cancer diagnosis where life expectancy is less than one year
  • The trial team believes something in your lifestyle or circumstances may make it difficult for you to follow the study plan — for example, relying heavily on takeaway food or a work canteen for meals (confirm with trial site)
  • You have a planned hospital stay during the time the trial would be running
  • You are already taking part in another clinical trial that involves a treatment or intervention
