Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You have been diagnosed with a specific type of head and neck cancer (squamous cell carcinoma), confirmed by a tissue sample test
  • Your cancer tumour or affected lymph node is larger than 3cm
  • You are generally well enough to carry out some daily activities (your doctor will assess this using a standard health scale)
  • You are planned to have surgery or radiation therapy (with or without chemotherapy) with the aim of curing your cancer

  • You are pregnant
  • You have previously had an allergic reaction to gadolinium contrast dye (a substance used in MRI scans)
  • You have a blood clotting problem that cannot be corrected or reversed

Confirm feasibility of recruitment of HN patients for on treatment repeat biopsy of the primary tumor +/- neck nodes; Change in fMRI during radiotherapy; Assess changes in tumor microenvironment during differing radiotherapy scheduling via repeat biopsy.
