Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with non-small-cell lung cancer (confirmed by a tissue sample), where the tumor measured 3 cm or less on its longest side on a scan after completing pre-surgery treatment.
• People who received any type of pre-surgery treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or a combination of both.

• People with a known heart condition or a history of treatments that can affect the heart, provided a doctor has assessed their heart function and determined they are suitable to undergo surgery under general anaesthesia.
• Women who could potentially become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test before joining the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have previously had lung surgery or surgery on the chest (thoracic surgery).
• People who are still experiencing significant side effects (above a mild level) from previous cancer treatment, except for hair loss.
• People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an experimental treatment.
• People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body, including the brain.
• People for whom at least two surgeons involved in the study have not agreed that a specific type of lung-sparing surgery (called segmentectomy) is feasible.
• People whose tumor, before pre-surgery treatment began, affected more than one lobe of the lung.
• People with certain uncontrolled health conditions, including: high blood pressure not controlled by medication; an active infection requiring treatment; heart failure with symptoms; unstable chest pain (angina); irregular heart rhythms; mental health or personal circumstances that would make it difficult to follow the study requirements; or any other condition a treating doctor believes could affect safety or study results.
• People who are currently pregnant, due to the frequent scans required during the study that could potentially harm a developing baby.
• People who have had another cancer diagnosed within the past 3 years (exceptions may include certain skin cancers, a specific pre-invasive cervical condition, or early-stage superficial bladder cancer — confirm with trial site).
• People who are current smokers or who stopped smoking less than 4 weeks before the planned surgery.
• People who, after completing pre-surgery treatment, have had lymph nodes in the chest found to contain cancer cells, detected through specific procedures such as EBUS, mediastinoscopy, or sampling during surgery.
