Who might be able to join this trial:

• Women who have experienced bleeding after menopause and need an endometrial biopsy (a small tissue sample taken from the lining of the womb).
• Women whose bleeding meets the definition of post-menopausal bleeding — meaning bleeding that occurs at least one year after their last period, or at least six months after starting a certain type of hormone replacement therapy (continuous combined HRT).
• Women aged 18 or older (there is no upper age limit).
• Women whose ultrasound scan shows a womb lining measuring 5mm or more, with a smooth, even appearance and clearly defined edges.

Who may not be able to join:

• Women whose ultrasound scan shows a specific, localised abnormality in the womb lining, such as polyps, certain types of fibroids, a divided womb (uterine septum), or other structural abnormalities of the womb.
• Women where there is a concern about an abnormality in the muscle wall of the womb that may not be benign.
• Women with a previous diagnosis of womb lining cancer or abnormal womb lining cell growth (endometrial hyperplasia).
• Women with a previous diagnosis of cervical cancer.
• Women who have never had vaginal intercourse (confirm with trial site).
• Women who are unable to tolerate an internal (vaginal) examination.
• Women who are unable to give informed consent.
• Women who have declined or withdrawn their written informed consent.
