Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or a liver disease of unknown cause, and you drink no more than about 4 drinks per day (men) or about 2.5 drinks per day (women)
• You are between 45 and 75 years old
• You have significant liver scarring (advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis), confirmed by a liver biopsy, a special ultrasound scan, or blood tests and imaging
• You have a close family member (parent, sibling, or child) who had primary liver cancer, or you carry certain rare gene changes linked to liver cancer risk (confirm with trial site)
• You are a man with type 2 diabetes or obesity AND you carry at least three specific gene variants related to liver fat processing (confirm with trial site)
• You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

• You drink more alcohol than the limits described above (roughly more than 4 drinks/day for men or 2.5 drinks/day for women)
• You have chronic hepatitis caused by a virus (such as hepatitis B or C) or by your immune system attacking your liver
• You have been diagnosed with an inherited liver disease that raises liver cancer risk, such as hereditary hemochromatosis, Wilson's disease, or Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency
• You regularly take medications known to cause fat build-up or damage in the liver (confirm with trial site)
• You have already been diagnosed with primary liver cancer before the study begins
• You have another serious health condition where life expectancy is expected to be less than two years
