Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of bipolar depression
- People between 18 and 65 years of age
- People whose depression symptoms are rated as moderately severe or above on a standard assessment scale (a score of 17 or higher on the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale)
- People who have been on a stable medication plan for at least 4 weeks before the treatment phase begins
- People who previously took antidepressant medications and have completed at least a 4-week break from those medications before being reassessed
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have ever been diagnosed with another psychiatric condition, a neurological disease, or who have had a severe brain injury
- People who have received certain brain stimulation treatments (such as electroconvulsive therapy, rTMS, or related procedures) within the past 3 months
- People who have conditions that make magnetic stimulation unsafe, such as epilepsy, heart or cardiovascular disorders, or metal implants in the head
- People who are showing signs of elevated or manic mood at the start of the trial, or who score above 12 on a standard mania rating scale
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
